NOTICE: MBTA Police are cracking down on fare evaders. Plain clothes officers are on duty and citing anyone caught catching a free ride.
Shoplifting, stealing, and theft are all crimes... so is fare evasion. Fare evasion is costing the MBTA millions of dollars in lost revenue each year. To make up for this loss, the MBTA is proposing implementing a fare increase this fall.
During these hard economic times, a fare increase will only entice more commuters to partake in the now common practice of fare evasion. The RideFare campaign has been setup with the one common goal of keeping fares affordable for those that remain honest and law abiding.
Please report any fare evasion activity to help assist the MBTA Transit Police know where the "hot spots" are located. Simply fill out the online form on this site or twitter your posts to @RideFare on twitter.com. Also make sure to join the Facebook group and share your comments.
